Calrec Introduces Offline Editor to AES

Stand: 1209

Calrec Audio’s Offline Editor makes its European debut at the 2008 AES show in Amsterdam. Saving operator’s time and maximising the effective use of a console, the Offline Editor enables productions to be configured on a remote PC.

The Offline Editor is especially advantageous when schedules are tight. Freelance operators can use it on their own PCs to virtually set up an OB truck’s audio board in anticipation of a game, concert, or other upcoming event. The settings can then be saved to removable media and downloaded to the console when needed. In a busy control room where an audio console may be in constant use, preconfiguring via the Offline Editor on a remote PC can enable almost instantaneous turnaround between broadcasts.

Because the Offline Editor mirrors the Calrec console’s own PC application, another use for it is in familiarising new operators with the console’s function without the need to tie up the desk itself.

“The Calrec Offline Editor provides multiple benefits both to facilities as a whole and to individual operators,” said John Gluck, Calrec Sales and Marketing Director. “In fact, it is another example of our commitment to maximising the overall effectiveness of the products we provide to our customers.”

The Calrec Offline Editor is included with all new Calrec consoles and is available as an upgrade for existing customers.

Also on show at AES is the Sigma with Bluefin console, and Calrec’s Hydra networking system. Sigma with Bluefin provides 320 channel processing paths on just one DSP card.
