Bow Tie Drive Zeta Production

Kent-based Outside Broadcast specialists Bow Tie Television are preparing to roll out their second High Def truck with the purchase of a 40 fader Calrec Zeta 100 digital console.

The 40 channel console, configured as 10 mono and 30 stereo channels, will be installed into Bow Tie's refurbished UNIT 1 truck. The console replaces a Calrec Compact analogue desk.

Bow Tie installed the world's first ever Sigma 100 into their UNIT 2 vehicle in June 2003.a move which convinced the company of the suitability of the Zeta for UNIT 1.

"The success of the Sigma 100 did effect our decision to purchase the Zeta," says Bow Tie Managing Director John Knopp. "I have to say that we have been very pleased with the Sigma, and the Zeta is based on the same operating platform.

"UNIT 1 will be an 8 cam truck with 10 vt's. It is aimed at the mid HD market where clients want 4-8 cams and the equivalent audio. If a client needs a bigger unit then it is UNIT 2 with the Sigma."

UNIT 1 is a 9.5 rigid scanner with a 3m x 1.2m expanding side, and will broadcast live events on a weekly basis.

Established in 1989, Bow Tie operates five OB units and a VT truck from it's Crayford base.
