Calrec Screen Visitors to all Exhibitions!
At the 2004 IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam and the 117th AES Convention in San Francisco, Calrec introduce a new metering system across its range of digital production consoles. Using colour TFT-LCD technology, the system allows a higher density of meters for a given chassis size to be available than is possible with existing bargraph LED meters.
All output busses are accessible by the screens, with input meters also available on Alpha and Sigma consoles. Each screen may be segmented to allow bargraph displays of differing sizes to be placed according to their priority within the desk layout.
Control over the colour palette is provided for the overall bargraph structure to enhance user configurability, while an extremely high resolution ensures the individual meters highly defined and visible to the operator.
Operators are also able to create individual meter templates that are most appropriate to any particular programme, and store these as part of their own meter profiles.
Choice of screen was critical to the design and has been very successful, allowing for a minimum 120° viewing angle to be provided. In keeping with the design philosophy of all Calrec digital consoles, the screens all operate independently of a PC. The proprietary interface also provides an 800 x 600 resolution 60Hz SVGA output for connection to external devices. Longevity is ensured by using an industrial grade screen with a minimum half-life for the illuminating lamp of 50,000 hours. Lamps are under-driven to further extend their useful life.
Screens are available immediately across all Calrec's digital consoles.
