Calrec Increase Production Capacity
Calrec Audio has made a significant investment into future production capacity with the purchase of one of the fastest surface mount placement machines in the world.
Calrec have installed a MY19 placement machine from surface-mount specialists MYDATA which more than doubles the company’s production capacity.
The MY19 is the largest placement machine available from MYDATA and combines a speed of 21,000 CPH on chips with 6,100 CPH on fine-pitch components, with a very large feeder capacity. Its high feeder count combined with the ability to place complex components at high speed makes it unique in the market place.
The MY19 also allows multi-tasking as it lets the user perform several tasks simultaneously during production, multi-user access and multi-board production features.
"Calrec are increasing turnover year on year and this investment has been necessary to enable us to keep our lead times flexible," says Operations Manager Dave Carr.
"The MY19 machine has significantly increased throughput, and has helped minimise downtime – the MY19 has the fastest set up and changeover times in the industry. It has allowed us to more than double our production capacity and gives us room to expand still further in the future."
This investment follows the installation of a second Datron CNC Profiling Machine in 2004, allowing greater throughput of custom metalwork.
Established in 1964, Calrec celebrate their 40th year in the pro-audio industry this year. The company oversees every aspect of design and production at its headquarters in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
