Bluefin Scoops Hat Trick at NAB
Calrec Audio’s Bluefin High Density Signal Processing has scooped three awards for innovation and technology at the NAB 2006 convention.
Bluefin is the recipient of the 2006 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award given by the editorial staff of TV Technology magazine, a Top Innovation Award courtesy of Television Broadcast magazine and was one of Mix magazine's Top-10 hits of the show.
The STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) is designed to celebrate and showcase the pre-eminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. A panel of judges consisting of TV Technology editors and columnists reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.
"Our panel of editors and columnists walked the show floor in search of innovative and ground-breaking new products," said Tom Butts, Editor of TV Technology. "The products we selected made the cut - they demonstrated their ability to help advance the acquisition and dissemination of audio and video in the professional video marketplace."
Calrec’s ground-breaking Bluefin High Density Processing System doubles the channel capacity on Alpha consoles with a considerable reduction in physical rack space. Bluefin provides 480 equivalent mono signal paths and is capable of providing 78 x full 5.1 surround channels on just one DSP card.
Bluefin processing provides full EQ and dynamics to all channels. The system also allows for 8 x 5.1 groups with full EQ and Dynamics, 4 x main outputs, 48 multitrack outputs and 20 auxes.
Calrec’s continued commitment to customer value means Bluefin technology is fully retrofit-able to existing Alpha consoles. Having to increase console capacity to cope with HD television will not involve buying a new desk for existing Calrec users.
