Omega with Bluefin Debuts in QVC Truck at NAB 2007

QVC, the world's No. 1 home shopping broadcast network, has selected a Calrec Omega with Bluefin audio console for a new remote production vehicle that debuted at NAB2007 in Las Vegas before embarking on its nationwide odyssey.

Headquartered at the Studio Park complex in West Chester, Pa., QVC broadcasts via cable and satellite 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, to more than 90 million homes. In 2006, QVC celebrated 20 years on the air.

The Omega console will be pressed into service with the debut of QVC’s new 48-foot, single-expanding production truck. QVC’s new truck will continue the legacy of remote productions for the company, which has executed more than 820 remotes, covering over 800,000 miles, from locations as diverse as Anchorage, Alaska; Key West, Florida; Paradise Island, Bahamas; and Honolulu, Hawaii.

QVC already employs two Calrec Zeta consoles in its Studio Park facility and a Sigma in its United Kingdom operation. QVC's new Omega console has 160 channel processing paths packaged as 48 stereo plus 64 mono channels.

"The positive impact that the Zeta and Sigma consoles have had on our operations in the U.S. and U.K. prompted our decision to integrate Calrec's Omega console into the new production vehicle," said Ron Schiller, QVC director of broadcast engineering and technology. “We are very excited about Bluefin’s high-density signal processing capability, exceptional quality, and ease of operations."
