Crosscreek Crossover to Calrec
Crosscreek Television Productions, an Alabaster, Ala., company with clients including ESPN, Fox Sports, Speed Channel, and TBS Baseball, has selected a Sigma with Bluefin for Voyager 8, its new HD production truck. The truck will be used primarily to cover National Hot Rod Association drag racing, but also for Major League Sports, College Sports, and live musical performances nationwide.
“When the truck was at NAB in April, the interior was just an empty shell, and everyone asked what kind of desk we were putting in,” said Spruce McRee, Crosscreek TV president. “I told them a Calrec, and they just lit up: ‘Way to go!’ That’s what happens when you buy the leading brand. We know we’ll have no problems booking this truck with Calrec installed.”
This is the first Calrec desk for Crosscreek, and McRee calls it a step up that will give his company new business opportunities. Another selling point for Crosscreek is that Calrec consoles can be upgraded easily and cost-effectively, making them useful for many years to come.
Crosscreek’s board includes 64 faders in a 6:6:6 frame, and Calrec customized it with a stand so the board can rest on a tabletop, creating additional space for equipment beneath it. Voyager 8 is currently being built at Bennett Systems, Inc., in Sunbury, Ohio, and is scheduled to hit the road in July.
